What is RunBuggy?

RunBuggy is an open car transportation marketplace that connects car shippers and haulers in real-time using a free-to-use app.

What services does RunBuggy offer?

RunBuggy offers shippers, such as dealers and auctions, the ability to place orders for car transportation anywhere in the continental U.S. In addition, shippers can access a robust set of analytics and reports that detail car transportation activity and performance.

RunBuggy provides Application Program Interface (API) access for companies looking to integrate a car transportation solution into their existing management systems.

For haulers, RunBuggy provides free access to loads that need to be moved. Haulers can search, claim, manage and get paid for car transportation orders all within the app. RunBuggy’s RapidPayTM ensures transporters get paid quickly at no additional cost.

How do I sign-up?

Signing up is easy and fast. In less than 10 minutes you can have an account setup and hauling for RunBuggy. 

Just let us know a little bit about who you are and we’ll get you setup with an account. Once you’ve got an account, you can search for and claim orders (transporters) or place an order in minutes (shippers).

How much does RunBuggy cost?

RunBuggy is FREE to use. There is no one-time, monthly or subscription cost. Shippers pay a competitive rate for transportation when the car is delivered. Haulers do not pay to access orders and do not have to pay any fees for getting paid electronically.

Is RunBuggy a subscription service?

No. You can use RunBuggy as often or as little as you want. There is no obligation and no minimum commitment.

What support does RunBuggy provide?

RunBuggy has a dedicated support team that is available to assist shippers and haulers with car transportation orders, app questions, pick-up/delivery issues, payments, and other concerns. Support is available by emailing support@runbuggy.com, calling 888-872-8449 or initiating a chat session using the chat icon at the bottom of your screen.

Where does RunBuggy operate?

RunBuggy currently operates in the 48 contiguous United States. We are growing rapidly and adding new markets regularly.

I'm having an issue with the app. What do I do?

If you are trying to sign-in to RunBuggy on a computer that uses the Internet Explorer browser, you may have difficulty. We recommend you use Chrome, Firefox or Safari to sign-in. If you are still having difficult signing in, please contact our support team by sending an email to support@runbuggy.com

Shipper FAQ

How are quotes generated?

The price you see is the price you will pay. RunBuggy has built a dynamic pricing algorithm that takes distance, vehicle details, market conditions, delivery requirements and transporter availability to produce quotes that are highly competitive.

How does RunBuggy keep its pricing competitive?

RunBuggy’s dynamic pricing algorithm was built to produce highly competitive and attractive rates for both shippers and haulers with the goal of increasing the volume of activity on the RunBuggy platform. And because RunBuggy is not a broker, there’s no “middleman” fees.

Do I need to download the app to ship a car?

The RunBuggy mobile app is not required to be installed on your phone or tablet in order to ship a car. Once you sign-up, you will be able to login to RunBuggy from any device to place, track and pay for an order.

What information is needed to place an order?

Placing an order in RunBuggy is easy!

There are only a few pieces of information needed to get your car picked up and delivered.

First, from the top of the page, select “Create Order”

Under “Delivery Details”, please make sure to provide the complete pick-up and drop-off addresses (street, city, state, zip).

If you have a VIN# for the vehicle, enter in the space provided. You can add multiple VINs per order. Please make sure to enter a valid VIN or the RunBuggy system will not be able to identify the vehicle make or model. If you do not have a VIN or would prefer to upload a bulk list of vehicles, please contact support@runbuggy.com

In the “Notes” section, please make sure to include the following information:

  • Contact information for pick-up and delivery (name and phone)
  • Special instructions such as dealer number, ETAs, drop-box location, unit dimensions, etc.)
  • Days and Hours of the pick-up and drop-off locations
  • Gate Pass Instructions such as the location of the gate pass and name of the person that gate pass is under

Lastly, if the vehicle needs to be picked up at an auction or other facility that requires a gate pass or release form, please upload it in the “Gate Pass” section

What happens after I place an order?

After you place an order, it will be available for transporters on the RunBuggy platform to review and claim. If you have a preferred transporter, let us know and we can work with you to make sure they will be able to claim your order before anyone else.

Can I place more than one order at a time?

Yes. RunBuggy supports bulk orders, so you can upload a list of thousands of orders from a single screen. RunBuggy was built to handle the scale of national dealership groups, OEMs and captives that need to ship multiple cars.

Can I ship a non-operational car?

Yes. Just indicate the car is non-operational, along with any special instructions, when you place the order so the transporter knows.

Can RunBuggy help me ship motorcycles?

Yes. RunBuggy can help you ship motorcycles, quads, and other motorsports vehicles. Please contact us for more information.

Can I cancel an order after its been placed?

Yes. You can cancel anytime up to when the order has been picked-up. After a car has been picked-up, you will need to contact us.

How does RunBuggy vet transporters?

RunBuggy is serious about safety and compliance. We make our best effort to verify a transporter’s compliance with DOT and insurance regulations.

RunBuggy programmatically validates transport companies against the FMCSA database. When a transporter claims an order, their insurance and operating authority documents are also available for the shipper to directly view or download themselves.

If there are any concerns with a transport company’s documentation, the shipper may cancel the order.

Additionally, RunBuggy also carries a garage keepers insurance policy, and our concierge support team is always available to address any questions or concerns you may have.

What insurance does RunBuggy provide?

RunBuggy provides an umbrella policy on top of the insurance already carried by the transporter.

What do I need to provide the transporter at pick-up?

Any paperwork, such as gate passes, can be uploaded directly into RunBuggy, so you don’t need to worry about faxing or printing paperwork. Keys should be left with the vehicle if you prefer a touchless transaction. The driver will take multiple pictures of the car and record the VIN in the RunBuggy app.

How do I communicate with the driver?

You can communicate directly with the driver via talk or text within the RunBuggy app.

How can I tell when my car(s) will be delivered?

The transporter will indicate a delivery time within the app so you can see when your car(s) will be delivered. You can track their exact location in the RunBuggy app or you can also talk or text directly with the driver to find out when they will be arriving.

Can I change the pick-up or drop-off instructions after an order is placed?

Yes. Simply go into the specific order and make the changes. The driver will be notified via the app.

What do I need to provide the transporter at drop-off?

Once the car has been delivered someone you designate will need to sign the Bill of Lading. This can be done within the RunBuggy app so you do not need to sign physical paperwork.

What data and reporting does RunBuggy provide?

RunBuggy provides  a robust set of analytics and reports that can be customized to your needs. Standard metrics include delivery time, cars shipped to date, locations for pick-up and drop-offs, and transportation costs to date.

Do I pay the driver when the car is delivered?

No. Payment will be delivered electronically directly to the transporter’s bank account. The driver should never ask you to pay with a check or with cash. If you experience an issue with this, please contact our support team immediately at support@runbuggy.com.

My car(s) were delivered damaged. What do I do?

Please contact our support team immediately at support@runbuggy.com and we will work work with you and the transporter to resolve.

Hauler FAQ

Is RunBuggy a load board?

No. RunBuggy is not a load board. RunBuggy is an open car transportation marketplace. We also don’t charge a fee for you to access the orders in our marketplace.

How much do I have to pay RunBuggy to haul cars?

Nothing. There are no fees of any kind that you need to pay RunBuggy. As a matter of fact, you will find that you typically make more with RunBuggy. And we don’t charge you for getting paid fast. RunBuggy RapidPayTM gets you paid within 48 hours directly to your bank account.

Why do you need my social security number and bank info to sign-up?

RunBuggy uses a 3rd party payment company called Stripe to facilitate fast and easy payment-basically- make sure you get paid quickly without having to chase the dealer or auction for a paper check.

Stripe is subject to federal Know-Your-Customer and anti-money laundering banking laws. A date of birth and the last 4 digits of a Social Security Number are required as part of Stripe’s mandatory identity verification requirement: Stripe must collect, verify, and maintain information on the individuals associated with every US Stripe account, as required by our regulators and financial partners.

Do I need to use the app?

Yes. Before you can pick-up an order, you must have the RunBuggy app installed on your mobile device. This is necessary so you can take pictures, communicate with the shipper, get any necessary passes or instructions, and most importantly- get paid. Using the app also helps us make sure you are protected from unwarranted damage claims.

How do I find cars to haul?

It’s easy to find orders to haul in RunBuggy. Once you’ve signed up and have the app downloaded on your phone, you will see all of the available orders in your area. Once you find one you like, simply claim it and you’re good to go.

How do I claim an order?

It’s easy to claim an order. Once you’ve found one you like, click on the order and simply click on the “Claim Order” button.

How do I see orders that have been claimed or assigned?

On the RunBuggy mobile app, once you have logged in you will see all Available Orders. At the bottom of your screen you will see a button for “My Orders”. This is where you will find all of the orders that have been assigned to you.

Please note: if you are a dispatcher or owner-operator, you will need to make sure that you assign the order after you have accepted it in order to see all of your orders in the “My Orders” section of the app.

How do I add drivers?

To add a driver, follow these steps:
1. In the top bar, click on your name and from the drop-down menu select “Profile Settings”

2. From the list of links in the middle of the page, select “Drivers”
3. Click on “Add Driver” and fill in the required information. The driver should be notified that they have an account with RunBuggy.

Where is the gate pass?

The gate pass will be on the Order Details page, if one has been provided by the shipper.

What do I need to do at pick-up?

To “pick-up” an order in the app,  please make sure you have first accepted the order that has been assigned to you.

Once you have accepted the order and are ready to pick-up the vehicle, click on the “Pickup” button and you should be good to go.

When you are ready to pick-up the vehicle, you will need to perform an inspection of the vehicle’s condition. To do this, click on the blue “+” next to the vehicle you are picking up.

Then, you will need to scan the VIN of the vehicle. You can do this by clicking on the bar code button in the VIN field (see below). If the VIN is not scannable, then you can enter the VIN number in the field manually.

Once you have scanned or entered the VIN, you are required to take at least 5 photos of the vehicle and obtain a digital signature from the shipper or their designated representative.

How much will I get paid?

With RunBuggy there are no hidden fees, or monthly subscription charges to worry about. The amount you see when you claim an order is the amount you will be paid.

When will I get paid?

Our goal is to get you paid as soon as possible after you have dropped off an order. Our average is 3-5 business days after you drop-off your first order. With RunBuggy RapidPayTM, you can get paid in as little as 48 hours.  We directly deposit the funds into your account for no additional charge.

The car was damaged at pick-up/in transit/at drop-off. What do I do?

If you notice the car is damaged at pick-up, in transit or at drop-off, contact our support team immediately at support@runbuggy.com.

Always make sure to take pictures of the vehicle at both pick-up and drop-off and note any damage you see in the RunBuggy app.

How can I see how much I've been paid to date?

To see all of the orders you have claimed and delivered, along with the payments you have received, your average fare, average distance, and average delivery time, simply click on the “Report” button in the top navigation bar.

You can also export this data by clicking on the “Export” button in the top right hand corner of the page.

How much does it cost to ship a car?

Shipping a car is not expensive as you may think – especially when you use RunBuggy. The cost to ship a car depends on a few things:

  • How far you are shipping it – the farther you ship a car, like from California to New York, the more expensive it will be. Shipping a car in-state or even between neighboring states will be a lot less expensive than you think.
  • What kind of car you are shipping – big, heavy or odd-shaped cars and trucks will cost more to move than a standard sedan, SUV or pickup.
  • Does the car work? – for cars that cannot start or need to be pushed or pulled onto the truck may cost more to ship.

When will my car be delivered?

With RunBuggy, you have access to thousands of car transporters nationwide, so you car will be picked up quickly, however depending on where the car is located and how difficult it is for the transporter to reach that location, it could take a few days to pick-up your car.

RunBuggy lets you track your car in real-time, so you can see exactly where your car is en route – no more guessing. Plus, you can communicate directly with the driver via text or by phone so you’ll you know when and where your car will be delivered.

What happens if my car is damaged in transit?

We only allow car transporters to join the RunBuggy marketplace who have  a valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL)and adequate and up-to-date insurance. In addition, RunBuggy provides an additional layer of “umbrella” insurance for even greater peace of mind.

Who do I contact if I need to make a change to my order or need help?

If you need to change the pick-up or drop-off location of your vehicle or let the driver know about a gate code or other special instructions, you can contact support@runbuggy.com and one of our concierge team members will assist you.

I live in a gated community/apartment complex, can my car be delivered?

Yes. RunBuggy works with transporters who know how to work in environments that have gates or are difficult to access. We’ll make sure we cover that with you when we place your order.

I have an exotic/expensive car, what insurance do you provide?

At RunBuggy we know how to handle exotics. From Bugattis to McLarens, we’ve shipped them all. We will make sure to arrange the right transporter for the job to start. Each transporter carries insurance and RunBuggy provides an umbrella policy on top to ensure your asset is properly covered.

How do you verify your transporters?

What's the difference between open and enclosed transportation?

An open transport truck is one you have most likely seen when driving down the highway.  There are sometimes multiple cars on one truck.

Enclosed transport trucks provide more protection for your car because the car goes inside the truck.

Open transporters are typically less expensive than enclosed transporters, but the choice is up to you. If you are shipping an expensive vintage or exotic car, it is recommended you use an enclosed transporter.
